Eagles Struggle to Find Rhythm in Road Loss to Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash. – Eastern couldn't find its footing on Wednesday night, falling 94–67 to Seattle U at the Redhawk Center. The Eagles battled through stretches of solid play but were unable to overcome the Redhawks' hot shooting and fast start. Seattle led wire-to-wire, using a dominant offensive performance to keep Eastern at a distance throughout the night.

Associate Head Coach Ryan Lundgren didn't mince words in his post game comments. "That looked like a team that had been on the road for 10 days," Lundgren said. "We were pretty flat — both ends of the floor — it was pretty embarrassing to be honest with you." He noted that Seattle U came out motivated after last year's loss to the Eagles. "I kind of knew coming in, Seattle U was going to come out and punch us the way we beat them last year," he said. "They have a lot of guys off that roster back, and they came out swinging. We really had no answer for it and didn't match it."

Eastern struggled defensively to contain Seattle's balanced attack, as the Redhawks shot nearly 65% from the field and continued to stretch their lead as the game went on. "It started with our defense," Lundgren said. "Anytime a team shoots that well — I think they were at 74% when they emptied the bench — you're not going to win many games. We couldn't stop them all night, and then we started allowing our defense to affect our offense."

Despite the tough night, there were moments of positive execution. The Eagles moved the ball well early, finishing the first half with 10 assists while generating good looks in transition. But the second half told a different story, as Eastern's offense stalled. "In the second half, we only had one assist and shot 37%," Lundgren said. "It kind of got out of hand and snowballed from there."

Johnny Radford led the Eagles with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including a pair of threes, while Isaiah Moses added 12 points and three rebounds.

After a challenging 10-day road stretch to start the season, Lundgren said the team is ready for some time to regroup. "We really need some time to kind of sharpen the iron a little bit and figure out what we need to improve on," he said. "We know what we need to improve on — now we just need time to do it and finally get a home game under our belt."

Eastern Washington will look to reset and refocus with valuable practice time ahead before returning to Reese Court, aiming to translate lessons from a demanding road trip into progress at home.
