BOULDER, Colo. – Eastern Washington went toe-to-toe with Colorado on the road Friday night, pushing the Buffaloes to overtime before falling 102–97 in a high-octane non-conference battle. The Eagles showed resilience and confidence throughout, trailing 41–39 at halftime and maintaining their offensive rhythm into the second half. Despite Colorado pulling away in overtime, EWU's ball movement, sharp shooting, and poise highlighted the team's ability to compete with a high-major opponent on the road.
Isaiah Moses led the charge with a standout 30-point performance on 12-of-21 shooting, adding five assists, four steals, and two blocks.
Alton Hamilton IV contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, and two steals, while
Emmett Marquardt provided a lethal shooting touch, hitting 4-of-5 from deep on his way to 13 points. The Eagles as a team shot an impressive 59.7 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from three-point range (9-of-16), but Colorado's rebounding advantage and clutch scoring in overtime proved decisive.
EWU came out composed in the first half, trading baskets and momentum swings in a fast-paced game. Moses set the tone early with a pull-up jumper and an assist to Marquardt, while
Kiree Huie and
Johnny Radford provided scoring bursts. JoJo Anderson gave the Eagles a lift off the bench, and Hamilton IV asserted himself inside, helping EWU stay within reach despite late Colorado threes. Efficient shooting and balanced scoring kept the Eagles tied at 39 before a Colorado buzzer-beater sent them into halftime trailing 41–39.
The second half saw Eastern quickly respond to an early Colorado run. Moses sparked a 10–0 stretch with a pull-up jumper, step-back three, and assist to
Straton Rogers, giving EWU a brief 51–49 lead. Marquardt's consecutive threes and Huie's energy plays off the bench kept the Eagles in striking distance, while Hamilton dominated the boards and helped control tempo. Down the stretch, Moses and Marquardt delivered clutch shots, including a deep three from Moses with three seconds left to tie the game at 85 and force overtime.
In overtime, EWU remained competitive, trading baskets with Colorado and staying within striking distance thanks to Hamilton and Moses attacking the rim and Marquardt hitting timely jumpers. Despite a valiant comeback, consecutive free throws from Colorado's Rancik sealed a 102–97 overtime win for the Buffaloes. Eastern Washington showed toughness, execution, and resilience throughout, leaving Boulder with plenty of positives from a hard-fought, high-intensity matchup.
