FARMINGTON, Utah — Academic excellence remains a cornerstone of Eastern Washington University Athletics, and the winter season was no exception. A total of 56 Eagle student-athletes have been named to the Big Sky Conference's 2025 Winter All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office today.
The Eastern honorees were among 546 student-athletes recognized across the conference's 10 member institutions. Idaho State led all schools with 79 selections.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. For indoor track and field, student-athletes may participate in at least half of the team's competitions or the conference championship.
Women's track and field led the way for Eastern with 26 student-athletes earning the honor. Men's track and field followed with 12, while both men's and women's basketball contributed nine selections each.
Among the 56 Eagles recognized, 13 earned perfect 4.0 cumulative GPAs. Across the conference, a total of 84 student-athletes achieved a 4.0.
During the winter quarter, EWU Athletics posted a departmental GPA of 3.35 marking the
53rd consecutive quarter with a GPA above 3.0.
