The outdoor season rolls on for the Eastern Washington University men's and women's track and field teams, who competed at the Wildcat Invitational today (Apr. 23) at the CWU Recreation Sports Complex in Ellensburg, Wash.Â

Today two new all-time top-ten marks were set and 19 events were won. The Eastern Washington University women's track and field team set two new all-time top-ten marks.Â

"I wasn't sure how the crew would do coming off the crazy travel experience with the California trip last weekend, but we had some amazing performances today," explained head women's coach
Marcia Mecklenburg. "I couldn't be more pleased with our crew as we won 10 events and those wins came from across all the event areas."

One all-time top-ten mark was set today by
Madelyn Knight in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Knight placed second and had a time of 14.59 which improves from her previous time on the list of 14.60. This time places her still in fifth place on the list.Â

Carissa Stovall competed in the women's shot put and placed first with a mark of 46-9 1/2. This places her seventh in the Eastern Washington University record book on the all-time top-ten list.Â

Stovall also competed in the women's hammer throw and placed second with a mark of 153-1.

Mecklenburg stated, "In the throws Stovall is now on the all-time top-ten list in the shot put.
Madison Tareski won the javelin with some consistent throwing. I think she is getting ready to throw something big."

In the women's javelin throw Tareski competed and placed first with a mark of 146-4.Â

Faith Kennedy competed in the women's 200-meter and placed third with a time of 26.28.Â

Katie Petsch competed in the women's 100-meter and placed first with a time of 12.03. She also competed in the women's 200-meter and placed first with a time of 25.05.Â

"Leading the way in the sprints was Petsch as a double winner in both the 100-meter and 200-meter. Our 4x400-meter relay raced to a win and also ran their first sub four minutes of the season. It was good to see that happen.
Haven Nutting won the 400-meter with a personal record and also had the best leg on the 4x400-meter relay," stated Mecklenburg.Â

Lidiya Pankova,
Alyssa Hoffman, Nutting, and Kennedy competed in the women's 4x400-meter relay and placed first with a time of 3:59.08.Â

Nutting,
Hayden McAuliff, and
Megan Hatton competed in the women's 400-meter and placed 1-2-3. Nutting placed first with a time of 58.05. McAuliff placed second with a time of 59.88. Hatton placed third with a time of 1:02.49.Â

Felicity Hempstead competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles and placed third with a time of 15.27.Â

Hoffman and Pankova competed in the women's 400-meter hurdles and placed second and third. Hoffman placed second with a time of 1:05.70. Pankova placed third with a time of 1:05.97.Â

Kaylin Sheley placed first in the women's 3,000-meter steeple with a time of 11:55.06.Â

'In the distances Sheley won the 3,000-meter steeple, leading gun to tape and held off a charging second at the end. Madi Carr ran a really tough 800-meter, battling to the line and pulled out the win. Our women's 1,500 crew went 2-8 led by
Lilly Fetzer, and finishing with multiple personal records in that group," explained Mecklenburg.

Carr competed in the women's 800-meter and placed first with a mark of 2:19.02.Â

Fetzer and Nicole Deherrera placed second and third in the women's 1,500-meter. Fetzer placed second with a time of 4:45.54. Deherrera placed third with a time of 4:50.81.Â

Savannah Schultz was the top vaulter this week winning the event and vaulting mid 12's.
Rebecca Thareek is back and hopping with a win in the triple and a solid jump in the long jump."

Hally Ruff, and
Rosalie Folger-Vent competed in the women's pole vault and placed 1-2-3. Schultz placed first with a mark of 12-6 1/4. Ruff placed second with the same mark of 12-6 1/4. Folger-Vent placed third with a mark of 12-0 1/2.

Rebecca Thareek competed in the women's triple jump and placed first with a mark of 37-5. She also competed in the women's long jump and placed sixth. Â

"Sunny and warm in Ellensburg, Wash., in April that was the best surprise of the day.  Our team definitely took advantage of the warm temperatures and generated several season best marks across all the event areas," explained head men's coach

Noah Cherrington placed third in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.53.Â

Kerr explained, "Jamie Chirstner took the 3,000-meter steeplechase win today."

Christener competed in the men's 3,000-meter steeple and placed first with a time of 9:44.36.Â

"The guys 4x400 shined today with a win setting up an entertaining showdown at the conference championships," explained Kerr.

Alex Bishop competed in the men's high jump and placed first with a mark of 6-9 3/4.

Brayden Freitag and
John Grieshaber competed in the men's pole vault and placed 1-2-3. Klobutcher placed first with a mark of 16-3 1/2. Freitag placed second with a mark of 15-9 3/4.Grieshaber placed third with a mark of 14-10.Â

Peoples competed in the men's shot put and placed first with a mark of 54-3 3/4. He also competed in the men's discus and placed first with a mark of 161-3. In the men's hammer throw he also competed and placed second with a mark of 185-4.Â

Logan Allen competed in the men's 100-meter and placed first and second. Gauthier placed first with a time of 10.69. Allen placed second with a time of 10.83.Â

In the men's 200-meter Allen and Gauthier also competed and placed first and second. Allen placed first with a time of 21.96. Gauthier placed second with a time of 21.99.Â

Liam Bracken competed in the men's 400-meter and placed first and second. Gaik placed first with a time of 47.15. Bracken placed second with a time of 48.22.Â
