Parker Bowden highlighted Eastern Washington University performances at the PNW Team Clash hosted by Oregon State University (OSU) in Corvallis, Ore., Saturday (March 13).
Â
Bowden ran the second-fastest 110-meter hurdle time in the country thus far, with a legal time of 13.90 –a facility record, a school record, and a personal record. Jonah Mathew also had a major performance, taking home a victory in the 100 meters with a time of 10.52.
Â
"Leading our performers today was
Parker Bowden," said Kerr. "His powerful and record-setting time in the 110 hurdles is something we knew he would do – though it's a bit surprising that it happened at our first competition since the COVID shutdown."
Â
"Another top performance for the EWU men was by
Jonah Mathews in his 100-meter victory," added Kerr. "Jonah Mathew's 100-meter time will move him up to number four on our all-time top 10 list. He is going to do some special things this spring."
Â
For the women,
Katrina Terry highlighted the meet with her first-place victory and personal record of 12-11 1/2 in the pole vault.
Emmanuella Engle (Emmy) threw a big PR in the javelin throw with a mark of 156-11 to take second place.
Â
"It was a great first meet for us," said women's head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg. "We had so many personal records it was hard to keep track of them."
Â
"Today's highlights were
Katrina Terry's personal record-win in the pole vault and Emmy Engle's six-foot PR in the javelin," added Mecklenburg.
Â
"The EWU dynasty in the pole vault continues with Terry's win which was followed by second-place finisher
Savannah Schultz, and taking third,
Morgan Fossen," mentioned Mecklenburg. "After graduating our top women's javelin throwers during the covid-19 season, it was great to have Emmy transfer in for her final year of eligibility. She will help provide some quality depth in the javelin for us."

Daniel Gaik has announced his presence to the Big Sky Conference with stellar performances in the 100 and 200," said Kerr.
Bobby Say took home two first-place finishes – first with a jump of 22-01 in the long jump, just two inches under his PR, then, Say won the triple jump with a PR of 48-04 3/4. "

Â
"Another heptathlete,
Madison Wilson had a good day at the opener with a third-place finish in the hurdles and a second-place finish in the high jump," added Mecklenburg. Â
