ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE
The directions from Spokane in the Big Sky Championships manual are no longer accurate due to the road closure on Hayford Road. Approach from the East like you are taking a bus route through Thomas Mallen or Spotted Road. Google Maps will not direct you correctly. The only entrance to either parking lots at the Fairways Golf Course is off of Melville Road.

After an encouraging win by the women at the L&C Invite last Saturday, the Eastern Washington University cross country team gets ready to split squads for two events this week. The top-eight runners for the men's and women's teams will compete in the Big Sky Championship (Oct. 28) in Cheney, Wash. While the rest of the team will make their way to Spokane, Wash. to run in the Sasquatch Invite tomorrow (Oct. 26).

As the last meet of the season, the runners participating at the Sasquatch Invite will be at the Spokane Polo Grounds running against multiple opponents. The women will race a 5k at 3:30 p.m. with the men's 8k set for 4 p.m.

For the first time since 2010, EWU will be hosting the Big Sky Championship at the Fairways Golf Course. The men will kick off the race at 10 a.m. with an 8k and the women will run at 11 a.m. with a 5k. Admission is free to the event. For more information, visit the championship central page HERE.

The student-athletes representing Eastern at the championship for the men are sophomore Anthony Carlascio, sophomore Jamie Christner, sophomore Noah Hasselblad, sophomore Jesus Herrejon, sophomore Marcus Lemon, sophomore Danny Maxwell, sophomore Austin Steed and sophomore Cameron Stuard. For the women, sophomore Madilynn Carr, junior Maddie Drennen, redshirt freshman Lilly Fetzer, freshman Faith Martinez, sophomore Jasmin Muneton, freshman Nattie Ruzauskas and junior Kaylin Sheley will compete.

Last season, the men finished eighth at the championships with 217 points, and the women placed 11th with 291 points. The Northern Arizona men have claimed eight out of the last ten championships, and are the two-time defending NCAA Division I national champions. The NAU women are the three-time defending Big Sky Champions. The best finishes in program history for the Eagles as a team are third (2008) and second (2015) for the men and women, respectively, as the Eagles are in search of their first Big Sky team title.

Eastern Washington has had 10 women earn All-Big Sky honors with a top-ten finish in the championship, highlighted by Sarah Reiter's title in 2014. The men have 10 as well, with Branden Fuller holding the highest-finish ever by a male with a third-place finish in 2004. A top-ten finish on the women's side would be the first since 2015, and a top-ten finish for the men would be the first since 2010 - the last time EWU hosted the championships.
